Occupational therapy?

Following my car accident last year,

I still cannot straighten my left elbow fully and my elbow aches after a while doing most activities - for instance I can't hoover for more than five minutes (I know.... what a shame ) I am left handed, which doesn't help, so I have been doing some 'occupational therapy, and these are just a few of the things I have made lately.

Please bear in mind that I haven't done any crochet or knitting for years, and have never attempted basket weaving before!

Now I have decided to try to get my still-dodgy legs to climb up the ladder-like outdoor wooden steps up to my workshop, so that I can get back to making the wooden ornaments I love.  After six months I can't wait to get back to work..... and Easter is not far off!

That is some excellent work there Christine.

Hi freckle,

I made the tortoise for my daughter, who is also tortoise-mad, so it is not for sale.  Do you crochet?  If you do, or if you know anyone who does, I can let you have the link for the pattern, which is free.  If not I could make one for you if you like.

Thank you, lizziep.  It is going to be a long road, but I am getting there!

Whereabouts in Leicestershire are you?  I used to live in Rutland, and worked at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.  Its a small world, isn't it?
lizziep

I live in a village about 10miles south of Leicester near Lutterworth. Rutland is beautiful, I need to visit it more often. What did you do at the LRI ?

I was a Macmillan Cancer Information Officer.  Basically I was there to help anyone with cancer, or their families and friends, by providing information on all aspects of living with a diagnosis of cancer.  Anything from hair loss, through side effects, money worries, diet and so on.  It was a fantastic job and I really enjoyed it, but the lure of early retirement and a life in France won in the end.

All Macmillan nurses deserve medals. I lost my sister last October aged 54 to Lung cancer and her Macmillan nurse was such a Godsend in lots of different ways. I am sure your retirement was well earned.
