Nailing the Easter bunny

I got a phone call from a guy in Glen Markie yesterday.

He mentioned on the phone that he had a rabbit problem. Me and my mate headed out there today on the hope of topping up the freezer.

The pic above shows you the road we had to travel along. Not very good in a fiat punto But we eventually arrived there to find a fenced in, recently felled wooded area.

The owner  then informed us that it is one single rabbit stuck in the fenced area  and could we get it!!  We tried for just over two and a half hours netting up small warrens, but nothing,i mentioned to my mate that we would try one more small warren and if we got nothing, then we would leave and go for a mooch onto a site further down the road.

We caught bugger all!! So decided to call it a day. The owner asked if he could pay us for our time and he gave us £50  Not bad for a days play.

We decided to head to a place that we had been before,a place called Barry Hill fort. It isn't a permission but it is kinda isolated and out the way.

We arrived there just in time for the bdooly heavens to open up. We lugged our gear half way up the hill to a warren that we know, stuck between 8-10 nets down and the first one hit the net.We nailed the easter bunny.

We moved further up the hill  and nailed another 4. My mates ferret got it's first bolter so he was well chuffed.

Time was getting on a bit so we decided to call it a day. We headed home with 5 buck bunnies for the pot and 25 quid each. Not too bad for a days play.

The nets are now hanging up to dry and my bottle of whiskey is getting cracked open. Day off work tomorrow,so I'm getting rat arsed

That's interesting.  Does the ferret catch them or just get them to the net?

90% of the time the ferret bolts the rabbit into the net.

Although sometimes the ferrets do manage to catch/kill the rabbit underground. For me,it doesn't happen too often.

Sounds like a good day all round , hope the whisky didn't do too much damage

Take Care
