They're gorgeous Emma and I bet they keep you guys busy.

Will look forward to hearing more about their work and the fun (but also hard work I'm guessing) you lot have.

Thanks for posting the pics - hope there are more coming.

Gareth

Hi Emma.

Those are fantastic looking dogs.

Seriously, Have we met?

I had a a pairof malamute/collie crosses until 3 years ago, and used to wheel sled train them them in the King's wood Section of Thetford forest.

Also, I am from Norwich (well, Spixworth for the moment, moving to the Woodcock road area of the city next week). I often see a man, and/or a woman exercising three huskies on Constitution hill, and around Catton.

That would be us Gareth we`re just off fifers lane in fiddlewood opposite the big nature reserve. Its my OH who is mad enough to walk all three together I normally have more sense and walk them seperately  :smt046  although walking the three together makes for a good power walk

Then we have met, and spoken.

I was/am the middle aged bald headed git on the blue & silver bicycle. ::

My new place is only a few hundred yards from Fiffers lane.

Well, well, what a small world  I just love the thought of border terriers doing that, they would all go in different directions!

Lovely dogs , and great photos Em :reindeer:
Sumo

Fantastic     Its always something ive wanted to do, but i think id need a few more than 4 to pull me  :smt103
Wasnt there a wierd cross used for sled racing some years back, that beat nearly everything before them, something like a foxhound cross Irish setter?  I think they were only bred in America though   Ill have a read and see if i can find the bit ive seen.
bodger

Its been said, but those dogs and pictures are fantastic. We are priveledged that you have put them on OTG.

Thanks very much.

Great pictures of super dogs.  I always admire people who put in the work with animals, and that looks like work as well as a huge amount of fun.

It is a huge amount of fun I never thought I would wish for cold weather and snow like I do now  :smt046

Theres nothing better than having your dogs do what they where bred to do and listening and following your every command it makes all those cold wet very early mornings worth it, we could never give it up

When I lived in Bury St Edmunds, I often used a BMX scooter to exercise my 2 Malamute X Collies, and I never was able to tire them out. I converted my Bicycle cargo trailer by adding a pair of pneumatic tyre caster wheels and often used the dogs to bring back the weekly shopping, both from the out of town supermarkets and the town centre market place. Always receiving incredible looks from motorists, pedestrians, and passers-by, including looks of amazement, jealousy, and envy from onlooking children. My daughter even gave rides on the Dog drawn bike trailer to her friends when she went out to play, and she raised a few quid by giving rides up and down the playing field at her school's summer fete.

During the winter of 01-02 my children and I built a wooden dog sled. But we only had the opportunity to use it during one winter's snow. That was during the snowstorm of Jan or Feb 02, when the whole country came to a stand still. Ironically, the first time that I used the Dogs and sled was to go and get the weekly shopping from Iceland :q28:, the dogs easily hauled all the groceries the  4 miles home through the 3 or 4 inches of snow that we had. However, the kids had a bonzer time with the dogs and the sled, and their friends the following day when all of the schools were closed.

Here is a link to the set of dog sled plans that I used.
