My bees

Thought I would post a picture of some of my hives
darkbrowneggs

Nice strong looking hives there

Are they packed up and ready to go somewhere?
VEG

I always strap them up as I have had some tipped over before.
sod

Looks good what is their main food there
VEG

Well usually at this time of year they are on the balsam but it doesnt seem to be giving much nectar at the moment.
kaz

Are you able to place them anywhere else near nectar sources?
VEG

There will be plenty of ivy around as it has started to flower
Lorrainelovesplants

yup ivy and blackberry are on just now.
VEG

Blackberry has all gone in my area.

Good to see hives going well after all the bad news there and here but reports here say numbers are going up here and people are planting winter flowering plants. The main feed here is clover and at moment fruit trees. Exept for the "Manuka"  flash stuff

Well thats the last of the honey taken off for this year, going to sort out my wax next. I have quite a lot of it now lol.
Rena

I learnt how to make candles from beeswax~is that something you do or do you use it in other things or will you be selling it?
VEG

I usually melt it into blocks and trade it in for new foundation
sod

That is why the old monks where so happy making church candles as they had all the honey to get rid of So much MEAD

Went to see my bees yesterday all still alive and no damage from the storms. I will visit again sometime this week to put some fondant on.

Great to hear

a week ago I took the lid off mine to peek in through the feed hole in the top, but its sealed up.. lol

yesterday was a tad mild and I noticed a few in and out.....

should I re-open the sealed hole and start to feed again..?
VEG

The  feed hole should be covered unless feeding. At this time of year if you need to feed use fondant.
