Money grabbing b******s!

BRITISH GAS the money grabbing swines. How can folk be expected to cope with 10% rise. We've been cutting back on our energy consumption for years and like most people, there's very little if any cut left.

People should switch enmasse to show their contempt.

True but if one supplier loses loads of customers and another gains, they will soon get the message. Just needs some joined up form of protest.
I'm currently with Ecotricity and fairly happy with the package I've got. At the moment anyway.

They can shove their price rise up their fat corporate a**e. We're determined to keep our CH on it's summer setting just to keep the chill out and provide hot water. We're bringing the fireplace in the front room back into use and will burn anything I can get for nothing. Don't mind if it means a bit of work cutting wood etc that keeps you warm anyway.

Well!....now I am p****d off.
earlier on this week we had a letter from our supplier, stating our Direct Debit would need to go up by about 5.00 a month.
Okay having heard of last weeks price rise and therefore sorta expecting it. We agreed.....In todays post was a letter...

We are nearly 390.00 in credit.

I want that credit back in my account.....NOW!!!!!!!

Why have they increased your DD if you are in credit?

It has been pointed out that it would perhaps not be a good idea to swop to a company that hasn't put it's prices up YET

I listend to radio 4 last night when they were giving advice on which gas company to go with and they were advocating going with one that has a fixed price for the next couple of years.
It won't effect us as much as we only use gas for heating water in the winter. We cook and heat on the multifuel (mostly wood) fires as I do a lot of one pot meals etc.

This happen to us, when I told them I wasn't happy with them having my money, they suggested I switched to reading my own meter monthly, and I only pay for what I used that month. they send my an email when they want the meter read.

Personally I've always felt that essential services should be run by the country for the good of the country, and profits ploughed back into them to improve the service.

True then as here the government sells off the power companys BUT LETS US BUY SHARES IN THEM THEY ARE OURS TO START WITH %&Y*(O(&^%$#$$%^
Sorry rant over fight not.

All our power meters here now send info straight to company. We pay by "Auto debit" monthly

I rather think that Milliband has scored an own goal here.

By announcing that Labour would freeze energy prices if they get in, the energy companies are getting in first with massive price hikes to soften any future financial blow.

My electric company pays me interest on any surplus in my account. (Ovo)

I'm stuck with my LPG supplier till February - even then it's a bit more difficult to change - it involves tank inspections and all that malarky.

Unfortunately government lost all right to meddle with energy prices when they first privatised basic infrastructer. Like it or not in a free market the management of the energy companies have one duty and one duty only and that is to generate a return for the shareholders who have invested in the business.
