Mole catching.

A few years ago, I ran a small pest control business in the area that we live now. It worked very well, in as much as I was able to run it around seeing the kids off to school and holidays etc.
I self funded myself to go on a MAFF mole catching course. This enabled me to obtain strychnene for mole control from the chemists. Thank God they've since banned the stuff. Although I was extremely careful when using it I had nightmares about the consequences of the slightest of mistakes. There's no antidote for strychnene and death from poisoning by it, is guarenteed and extremely painful with wracking pain and convulsive seizures etc. Its horrible stuff. I've heard it referred to as the seven deaths. This was because anything killed by it could be picked up and eaten by the next seven animals and they'd die.
It use was basically limited to farmers fields where the public didn't have access and because the farmers expected to pay a pitance per acre, at times it was hardly worth the hassle.
Far more lucrative, was the disposal of moles from household lawns. This is probably going back ten or more years or more, but even then it was a minimum of £25.00 a time cash in hand.
I've just been to the local farmers merchants and during a conversation there, one of the blokes was telling me that they've been sold out of Phostoxin for weeks and that they were struggling to get anymore in. This is probably down to an increase in demand for it following a  boom time for moles after the strychnene ban.
It made me wonder if it might be time to pick my mole bar and spade up again and restart my trapping.
I know it will vary from area but whats the going rate for bumping off a mole in a garden these days.
I've even thought of a name for a future company or business.   How about Molitoff cocktail, pronounced mole it off !
Anyone wanting to use this company name can do so but please feel free to slip me a fiver.

We've just had the mole man round and he charges £15 an hour covering around 100 acres. Not seen him since the day after he did the 1st field and he got 2 moles with tunnel traps.
