Low carbon technology will not mean bigger bills.

I wonder whether this government, or any other subsequent government will ever fully take the inforstion contained within this study on board and then, actually go on to form a mainstream national energy policy around it? Although though its a government commissioned report, I'm sure that the answer will be no.

Oh yes, they'll continue to throw a few millions at it just to pay lip service to the notion of green clean energy but in the meantime, they will continue to pay billions of pounds of tax payers money out on both developing and decommissioning nuclear powers stations.
I note with interest that while the report says that green energy will add a hundred pounds a year to average household bills, it doesn't actually say how much managing our nuclear power industry already actually adds. A fair bit more I bet!

From what I can gather, this is probably true. However our taxes will probably rise to pay for FIT's and investment in renewables. When the utilities were sold off, none of the big six wanted to take on the Generating Board. This was the non profitable bit that dealt with decommissioning power stations and investment. That was left for the tax payer to pick up the bill.
I still can't see the logic of the Goverment paying FIT's. Surely the electricity companies should be paying this as any excess generation is going into the grid for them to sell on. Those who could afford PV panels got a pretty good deal but the poorer element of society will be picking up the bill for the next 25 years or so.

1, FIT's are not paid from taxes in fact they are not paid by the government at all.

2, The elec companies DO pay the FIT's

Ok, I stand corrected. Maybe I shouldn't believe all I read in the papers.
