Less we forget.

The deaths of our young soldiers in the heat of Afghanistan are constant reminders of what war really means for those taking part in it. I've just found this piece on the BBC news website that trails a radio programme that they have coming. It makes for poignant reading and makes you realise that nothing changes. Although the diarist died nearly a hundred years ago, he still had the same doubts, worries and fears that our young soldiers must be experiencing today in 2012.

I shall try and find a quiet spot to listen to the programme.

We have just lost two last week, taking Church this morning was an army chaplain so we got very close to it all.

And this is the stuff the public should be focussing on rather than certain other things IMO.  I admire the achievments of the athletes but to be fair, it just seems all a lot of hype to me

See your point but both are important in IMHO, our soldiers were watching and cheering our athletes on and it kind of shows what they are there for. If you look at what was needed to keep things safe at the games now and years ago it makes us see the reason why it is happening. I don't want to get into political things so I hope this makes sense, we know some who have served.
