Lawn seeding

Laid a new lawn late last year, after all the bad weather, its looking a little patchy..bought some seed, when is the best time to re-seed ?
Any other tips on doing so would be gratefully accepted

ah well old school used to say spring or autumn main reason for that was so you did not have to water it as if you did it would wash the seed anywhere but now not many people stick to it and you can plant grass seed anytime try not to sow spring time as all the birds love to feed their young you can seed now depending on weather grass tends to grow anytime although slowly at this time of year here is a tip mix the seed with dry sieved soil and sow where needed pat down with hand or back of spade gently, do not water you can use horticultural sand but water with a fine sprinkler sparingly to stop the wind blowing it away

Thanks GL, you have confirmed my thoughts....hopefully I will be able to sow in the next few days. As luck would have it, I've got a lot of 10mm pea netting lying around, that will not be used for a month or two, so I'll cover the areas to keep the pesky bird at bay...

great idea
sod

As said here used to be spring now like this year it would be burnt off so now Autumn but then early froast gets it  or it gets drowned   so whenever seems way to go if ground is wet

Job done, managed to rake off all the debris, mixed the seed with some spent/old compost, scattered and finally covered the re=seeded areas with pea netting. Thankfully it has gently rained over night wetting the  seed nicely.
