Ladybird books

Do you remember them?

Although there are kids' books still marketed under the Ladybird name, they're rubbish compared with the ones I remember from my childhood, and the ones we bought our son in the 70s.

You could get one for almost any subject, they were cheap, informative and suitable for quite young kids without being patronising. How I wish we'd kept them!

I was looking for info. on seashells for 7 yr old grandchild yesterday and although I drew a blank on info on the web I found a treasure trove of old Ladybird books on Ebay

So issy's getting a book about the seashore, and another about pirates (her school project). She's got a real thirst for knowledge at the moment so they'll be sure to please her. And little brother's getting some on dinosaurs and the night sky.

if you like old ladybird books why not have a look at my friend's website

http://www.ontherebound.co.uk/

Caroline takes old and un-loved ( and falling apart) books and turns them into gorgeous notebooks or diaries, keeping the best illustrations - there is a whole section for Ladybird books

I've got the what to look for series for the various seasons. Tha art work for the illustrations is fantastic.
