Kiwi fuit

I wasn't sure if to post here or in the recipe/cooking section.....

Kiwi fruit - we've just picked all the fruit before we are hit by the first frosts, there are loads but very small. I know they will keep for a good couple of months as they are but does anyone have any tried or tested methods of preserving them please?

They are supposed to freeze well sliced but as they are so small I'm not sure how well this would work. I've found an apple and kiwi fruit jam recipe where you don't peel but strain after cooked which appeals but I quite fancy the idea of bottling them whole in a spirit ??

Next year we will try thinning the fruits on the plant, self fertile kiwi plants are known to produce smaller fruit but these are small!

To be honest Sandrar, I've never grown them...But I'd be tempted to going down the apple jam route, or even freezing them in slices...could always add them to a pavlova (SP)...
..just my thoughts...for what they are worth...

kiwi vodka or rum.

Yes, I normally use 6 shop brought kiwi (you may need a few morel)  to a 75ml bottle of vodka then add sugar to taste, that normally runs out at about 400g.

I like most of my fruit infused booze, sweet and more of a liqueur texture, I also let it age for a month or two or longer, to get a smoother and mellower flavor

Thank you I'll give it a go

I used to run a night shift skinning and  slicing Kiwi fruit then blast freezing.Next day they where loaded into a container when full sent to UK for Pavs at Christmas
