It's that time of the year ..

... where people turn down the offer of a marrow, courgette and runner beans.

So what's your glut at the moment?
horace

We have managed to give our spare stuff to pensioners
Christine

I am the pensioner allotment holder and the family is saying no more courgettes

Sadly.....my only 'glut' this year is .... manure.... .... (in our part of the world, there's plenty to go around....and could you imagine me leaving bags of it on doorsteps?! )

Put it out front in bags with a sign saying $5/bag, it'll soon go...
You won't get the money but the manure will go.

Find somewhere there is a lot of pensioners and very little funding.
I would love someome to drop off 3 or 4 kilos of spare veg or some nice fruit for my old dears.
Some homes might stick ridgidly to their supplier audit lines but i certianly wouldnt say no.

At the local garden centre's its 5.00 a bag around here. Some local stables sell it for 1-2.00 a bag, but you bring your own bag and fill it. So the answer is yes its a very saleable commodity .

As for gluts of vedge, in the past I've always managed to be rid of it, OAP's or down the local, where I earn the odd pint or two per bag full.
What I save on buying a pint, put towards my seed pot and any other sundries I may need the following season.

Marrows are always a problem to be rid of as most would not have a clue how to use/cook them these days.

Not that I have this problem this year sadly

If we could meet up about Wednesday DD I could let you have 3 or 4 at least.

Somehow I feel it would not be cost effective somehow
Slipster

ball courgettes.................oodles of 'em............
Mo

We have no gluts, in fact we have nowt that we have grown this year

However, for the coming years I was pointed to this:

http://www.egg-map.org/

It has started as a map of places selling eggs at the gate and is expanding to other produce. I think it's a nifty idea.
Rena

That's a brilliant idea!! Nice!

Loike IT...
