Roadkill

Thats an epic picture!

It reminds me of my younger days in the Air Cadets when I was lucky enough to be offered a flight in a 2 seater Harrier out of R.A.F Wittering, as we were coming back from a Navigation exercise the pilot asked me" So how strong is your stomach out of interest?" so of course being young I replied " Strong enough for anything you can throw at it" he then proceeded to take me through the Brecon Beacons 65ft off the floor through the valleys at over 450MPH and we were actually looking UP at sheep on the mountainside above us, very nearly made me reach for "The bag" lol, still one of the best experiences of my life!

That would have to be one of a greatest things ever
Roadkill

It was indeed, easily in the top 3 most exhilarating things ive ever done in my lifetime!
The whole flight through the beacons we did`nt go above 200ft!

Also he thought he would try n s**t me up so took both hands off the controls and put em on his head ( I was in the rear seat looking at the back of his head above the ejector seat) and let the aircraft fly itself for a few miles ( they have terrain following radar that can fly the plane on its own in case the pilot blacks out) and THAT succeeded lol as I knew nothing about the TFR and thought he was going to kill us lmao

On the flight back to Wittering he let me take the controls for a few minutes in both forward flight and hovering but my brain at 16yrs old simply could not think/react fast enough to control the thing ( it will spin over 600 degrees per second and you can go from +4G to -3G in less than half a second) and I had previously only flown gliders and 1950`s propellor driven training aircraft with a top speed of 150mph.

Since then i`ve been lucky enough to fly in a multitude of different aircraft (both military and civilian) and only fully blown stunt planes have ever even remotely came close to scaring me like he did( in a nice way of course).

I will say however to every/anyone, regardless whether you are  scared or not if anyone EVER offers you a chance to be taken up in an aircraft seize it with both hands as it will totally change your life for the better, gives you a whole different perspective on things!!

~ On Silver Wings ~

Somewhere over the rainbow
beyond the naked eye. There's
a place one day my soul shall go.
On silver wings there I shall fly...
~
A kingdom is there, 'tis a heaven so
divine. The beauty and it's splendor
are beyond the the realms of space
and time.
~
In this heavenly light, dark clouds are
never there. Only dazzling clouds of
snowy white; you can feel His love,
flowing through the air.
~
Somewhere over the rainbow, there
in yonder ski. When I am called to
go one day I'll tell my friends good by.
I'll find my way to heaven then and on
silver wings there I shall fly...

Hi

I recall a few years ago I was standing on the patio one summers eve, it was just starting to go dark when suddenly the roar of two RAF jets almost made me drop my bottle of beer!!, a couple of seconds later a third one roared by!

It sent a tingle down my spine and I felt amazed and almost honoured to have witnessed this spectacle

Those three craft were very very low and the afterburners were extremely loud, I loved all five or six seconds before they went out of sight!!

I've never seen them since and the that was around fifteen years ago
