I have mice

Everyone here has mice - this is an agricultural Moshav.

So I don't leave food out.  Only prepare food on specific boards for specific food.

So I have learned to live with the mice.

But.

Even though I have screens on every window, the mozzies come in when the door is opened for Pereg to go out.

And I do not like mozzies although they seem to adore me.

My largest bite is now 4cm diameter.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

Ta muchly.

You need some poor beggar like me living with you. Mozzies fly right past Kaz and totally ignore her just to sink their fangs into me. Whenever we go abroad, I get 'tatered' with bites and she remains unscathed.
Juli

Nah, I've always said that if I was in the middle of a thousand people and there was just one mozzie, it would zooooooom towards me.

Think I got done when I took Pereg out just before dusk.  I think.

See once upon a time, maybe until a few years back, the Local Authority used to come and spray around all the little homes here.

And then they stopped.  Didn't reduce L/A taxes though, did they.

Pshah.

Biggest mozzie bite now 6cm diameter.

Ooh, wot fun it is to measure these lumps and bumps.

Umm - is this the Forum to discuss mosquitoes?

I hate it when you're just going off to sleep and suddenly you can hear that whining little hum and you've just GOT TO get the little blighter  -but first you've got to find him.
I suppose our cold winters do have some advantages.
Juli

Oh I can't hear the whine any more 'cos I's deef.  Well OK, so I'm only deef and not Deef and when I lay on my good side, the one wot 'as the 'earing aid in, then I can't 'ear de whine.  Because I don't wear it at night, do I.  Stupid I might be but dat stuupid I aint.

And if I lay on de uvver side I can't 'ear anyfink can I.

Sorry, wot woz you saying only I don't think I heard you.

Marmite,
mosies dont like the b vitamins so the more you eat the less they will bite, if you cant get marmite try a b vitamin supplement.
Juli

I can't get Marmite here because it isn't Kasher but I do take a B Complex tab daily.  But the blanking Local Authority haven't been spraying and I am getting bitten more and more because the mozzies like me.

And if the L/A don't start spraying again I ain't gonna pay my L/A tax.

Right?

no there mice. here are what we call rats  in france.
bodger

We saw some of them on the fishing ponds when we use to take our then kids on camping holidays to Brittany. They are pretty impressive creatures when you get up close to them.
Better point out that thats a coypu by the way. We wouldn't want to confuse it for a mouse.
Nice picture Weasel.

It reminds me of one particular camp site that we went to a couple of times a few miles outside Roscoff. They had a small fishing pond that I spent many hours by the side of, with a rod in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. One particular year when we were there, the place was infested with rats. They were actually running over your legs in the daytime as you fished. When one of the campers complained about their furry playmates, they were told in a French accent that they were not rats but were infact ' Night Squirrels'
Juli

Knew dat woz a coypu.  I ain't dat stuupid.

I just have mice.

And mosquitoes.

I think.

Anyone any idea for the dimensions of the mouse trap with the lobster pot type entrance? drop to the floor distance etc?

There are two problems here.  Three actually.

1 - Where would I put a lobster pot mouse trap and what would I do with it if it cotched a mouse?

2 - Somehow I do not think the puppy would fancy a mouse-cotched trap if it fell on the floor.  Not that there is any place to put one.

and

3 - I would rather have mice than rats, and with a bit of luck my puppy will learn to catch them although she has only just noticed them.

Who knows - she might even stop biting one day!

Mice are nasty little disease vectors. No way would I accept living with them - plenty of ways to kill them off
