I'd live in a house like this.

I'd live in a house like this, would you?

They've got to be a better bet than the concrete block shoe boxes that seem to be popping up everywhere. Where we live, we're surrounded by forestry but wooden housing continues to get the thumbs down from our planners. Why ? Well because they aren't in keeping with the area of course.

I would ask whether they will get mortgage approval, as I think at the mo anything that is 'not of traditional construction is routinely turned down for a mortgage.

Timber is certainly commonplace in a lot of countries, so this in itself wouldnt put me off.  I think 75K is steep considering you have to buy the land seperately.  We looked at putting 2 kit houses (trad construction) on our plot here, and they were only a few K more to build.
