hyacinths for a competition

I know we have just got over christmas but while it is still fresh in everyones minds I would like to ask for help.
I am organising an old fashioned style bazzar in November and one of the ideas put forward is a grow a hyacinth competition for school children. What I would like help with the timings on this ie how long does it take from starting the bulb in the glass container to full flowering? Hope someone has experience of this, thanks

I know that Xmas flowering hyacinths have to be specially conditioned to get them to flower early but I don't know how.

hyacynths are usually spring flowers but
To get them to flower at xmas  put the bulbs in the fridge for two weeks october time bring them out in to the warm and leave a daylight lamp on for 12 hours  each day
