help please identify this

This plant is growing in a border in what should be a veg/herb area but I do not know what it is- Any idea ? the slab is 60cm square

I have something similar that is Garlic Chives but i might be wrong

Thx Claire it does look like Garlic Chives from your clue and my resulting google search lol

Do you use it ?
ClaireK

I do. I tend to chop up the leaves finely and mix them into salads. I dont find them as strong as normal garlic but alot fresher tasting

I tried one plant base- to look at a bit like a chives base or a spring onion base but I did not detect any onion taste at all - maybe my taste buds !

Not sure now- they look a bit like Crocosmia Lucifer, but i have yet to see any flowers
Toddy

My crocosmia all come from bulbs though.
I have very small iris' that look very like that plant however. Funny little things, they flower from what looks like the tip of a leaf.

Thx Toddy for another clue. Yes they look like Iris but I have not seen them flower yet. Thankfully I spat out the bit I tasted as the stinking Iris is toxic.
I am reluctant to get rid of them as it is our first year here and the previous owner was an avid gardener with lovely raised  beds and easy maintenance so I guess there is some value in them although we are yet to ascertain what it is.

I would say chives - ours have escaped from the pot and have self seeded all over the gravel and between the slabs - I'm having a terrible time trying to get rid of them - they even seem resistant to weedkiller
welshboy

Kaz thx I do not think they are chives though and funnily enough unless I can identify a use for them (they seem invasive) they will be replaced with chives !

In a Car boot sale today I saw some major kaffir lily which seem identical to my plant. apparently they flower in late autumn/winter so no wonder we have not seen any flowers. I will be pulling them up so if anyone wants some I will post them
