Hanging baskets and pots in memory of

Diggers loved his hanging baskets and pots, they were always stunning. Last year I told him I would plant some this year and look after them ( I'm always rubbish at remembering to water them.)

I'm going to stick to my word and fill the front of the house with pots and baskets in memory of him. I hope I can do him proud. He'll be greatly missed by all.

Will do thesame, well try to make them look good.
Thanks for great idea
bodger

We'll do that too that's a fitting idea Sandrar. Not a competition but maybe all those who want to, could show some pictures of their baskets this summer.
sandrar

No not a competition, DD was always only too happy to offer advice and encouragement but photos of peoples flowers would be lovely.

Great idea
Gareth

I think that is a wonderful idea: count me in as well please.
Rena

Same here.... Although I have been so lacking in keeping up care, I'd like to do better this year. His baskets always looked so nice... I could only hope mine may be at least a hint of what his were. I already miss him greatly.

Karen and I have been discussing how the forum might raise some money for the British Heart Foundation. We're thinking of seed swops with a small donation from the recipients and maybe consider doing the same for gardening books.

That's a lovely idea - I have always cheated and bought hanging baskets but I will enjoy doing the pots.
Gareth

I have bought an empty metal hanging basket frame, shaped fibre insert and some cloth type liner, along with a wall bracket from my local Aldi this morning. We've plenty of compost, and a visit to Mousehold garden centre is on the cards for saturday morning. So this weekend I am going to plant up my hanging basket in memory of Diggers'.......I've never done a hanging basket before! .

This has answered a question that was in my mind but that I didn't like to ask.

I have just emptied some old hanging baskets into the chicken pen, and now I have a use for them, thanks.

Liking the seed swap idea
Rena

So glad for these recent posts... I had temporarily forgotten!

Still think about his missus, family and missing his garden picture postings. His hanging baskets really were amazing. I agree with bodgers earlier post, please share pictures of your baskets.

Anyone heard how his family is doing? I think of them often.

Did these about three weeks ago in memory of Diggers (really liked his posts). Been growing them on in the tunnel and will put them out this weekend.

Those are beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! What an great beginning of honor to digindeep. Thank you so much for sharing!

Wow have just found some frames so will do them but doubt mine will be that good
Yorkshire Geordie

Mrs YG has greener fingers than I have and I can't claim to have produced this display -  but I have been instrumental in dedicating them to Digindeep's memory so that all that pass can see.

very good looking too.

Awww. Beautiful.
Yorkshire Geordie

This summer has been very good and Mrs YG's baskets and pots have made a good display.

The sun's been smiling too

They are absolutely stunning Martyn.

True to form I start the season with good intentions but that is as far as I get. Every time I walk up to the house I think of Digindeep and how he loved his garden and promise to myself I'll try harder next year
