Half price lightbulbs

In Wilkinsons this week.

All lightbulbs are half price. Making the mega expensive led lightbulbs a more attractive option - a potential saving of around 6 quid a lightbulb if you're tempted by them (supposed to last 20 years ????)

My cooker hood bulbs, sewing machine light and half the lightbulbs in the house all needed replacing this week so I was well pleased that there was an offer on.

Lidl are doing Phillips LED bulbs @ 7.49ea or 14.00/2.

Are they as good as they say?
It would cost a fortune to change all the ones in the shop but if it meant not having to stand on a ladder cursing at stupid GU10 lightfittings that are a nightmare to change    I suppose I could be tempted

Yes, these 2nd generation LED's are worth it. They consume so much less electricity than conventional incandescent bulbs, and about half that of low energy bulbs for a similar if not better light output. Gen 2 LEDs also have a much warmer and less harsh light than Gen 1 LEDs, and a life expectancy in excess of 20,000 hours of usage is a very real possibility.

Yes - I got a couple of the GU10s to try in the shop while I was in Ikea in Wednesbury last week. Wish I lived closer to an Ikea - I get totally frazzled while I'm in there, knowing if I need something I've GOT to buy it then because it'll be ages before I'm going past again.

If you make the trek over to the Warrington one (the first), give me a shout, we live 10 minutes away from it, I'll have the kettle on!

We have a mixture, screw caps have certainly become more common over the last 10 years or so.
In this house we have both sizes of each and some G9 , it's a PITA keeping the appropriate spares in...

12 I bet it is. Funny here places were selling screw bulbs but I couldn't find any where selling the fittings
