Full stop this morning.

I went to lead the horses out this morning as I've done hundreds if not thousands of times before only to find that Bella our coloured cob refusing to move. She can be prone to having Abscesses in her feet and it looks as though she's got one brewing now.
She was perfectly alright when we lead her in last night, so this latest one has been a nasty suprise.
Our farrier, like most, is pretty busy, so after leaving a message with his wife, all I can do now, is hope for a visit from him today. Ho hum, who' in their right mind would keep livestock?

Nooooo..... she had her feathers shaved off yesterday.....the farrier will laugh at her

Oh no, poor Bella   did the farrier get to you? Abcesses are a right nuisance, my ponys had her fair share.

Hope she is feeling better and more moblie soon, give her a pat from me

The farrier is coming tomorrow, in the meanwhile, she's on bute and we're poulticing the foot every morning. There was a bit of gunk on the poultice this morning but she's still very lame.

The farrier gets a lot of practice on my mare - she's so prone to abscesses that she's now shod on the front, even though she's not in work. Otherwise I'm constantly plugging holes with cotton wool and vaseline to stop the grit getting in.

The last time that she had one was this time last year,  just as we were going off to Malta for a week. We left her in the capable hands of the farrier, Jenny and Rob. It was at the same time as the Japanese nuclear disaster. The TV in the hotel was lousy, all we could get was Sky News or foriegn programmes.

Yeah, it's a b*gger when you can't get BBC Wales in a foreign country!

Hows Bella?

Bella is recovering well - we poulticed the foot whilst waiting for the farrier and by the time that he came the abcess had practically drained itself. We are keeping her in for a few days (especially as it has rained and the ground's muddy again) and then she normally gallops up the field to her friends kicking and bucking

Glad to hear she seems better
