Feather chucking south coast??

Hi oh knowledgeable ones,

Where's the best place to go feathering/spinning for mackerel on the south coast, I will be introducing my better half to the delights of fishing, the idea is to take a disposable bar-b doings, catch a couple of mackerel and cook them on the beach.

Now we will be travelling from Reading, so don't want to go too far, anywhere between Bognor Regis and Southsea likely to produce a couple of mackerel?, or should I just head for Chesil beach?.

Regards

Well we are just back, caught loads of seaweed and very little else, I think I am going to regret doing all that casting, but we did get a nice crab sandwich from one of the cockle stall places and the weather was spot on.

Also had several anglers tell me that you can catch bass, flounders and all manner of fish , perhaps next time.

But the better half who had never picked up a fishing rod before, took to it like a duck to water and her casting wasn't bad either

I always keep a packet of fish fingers in for just such an occasion Steve.
With mackerel its very hit and miss. If they're there, then its easy but if they aren't , then its Captain Birdseye.
