Erniman " saying...passing me a little brown bag... while scooping out the barrel, that real bright yellow Butter and Patting it..it had got to look like a block. "take the broken ones out...fill the bag up...get on with it Lad..you will get more in that there bag..( bladdy eat a couple..hee..he I did..) .....and still more went it the bag....how many got back to Nan's..

Few broken biscuits got back to Nan and Pop's...Toast on open fire grate..three pronged fork...red hot fingers...ruuy butter.....crunching toast...Black and white Telly....Pop  speaking ......

I've been a few times & the massed pipes & drums always makes the hairs on my neck stand on end. It's a special place for me, as my Dad was the Lone Piper years ago. To give you a sense of time, it was shortly before the Cameronian were disbanded

Earls Court was our regular event.
Always hoped Pompey were running Field Gun, Dad was part of the Pompey "Guns & Guts" team just after the war.

The lone Piper this year was the Son of the very first lone piper of sixty year back when the first event was held.
I believe it was a totally Scottish Pagent back then...
Got to be honest beside the Lone Piper, always looked forward to the gun race...bought in by horse, desembled, carried over the obstical course and re-assembled...Wow!....hat off too those guys...

Back when I were at junior school...we had a Scottish Deputy Head, also my class teacher....Mr Williams
He picked 8 of the lads from our class and taught us various Sword dances, plus a group of girls for traditional dances...
We went out all over the Midlands doing displays, full kit sporon -kilt ect.
So to watch the Tattoo, added for me at least a great deal more, plus of course Pop's Knowledge of the Brigades....

Wonder if I could still do the Podobar (sp).....
