Do you like trees?

Yesterday I took Biscuit a walk on the common.
It was getting darker by the minute, and cold, but the sun going down behind some trees gave some lovelly silhouettes ...........

This one has an aeroplane making a pass on the crescent moon

Being Christmas Day today there was little traffic about and my other half and I went to the local pub.
On the way I took this shot of some lonely trees.

This afternoon we went to the Christmas Day Service at Exeter Cathedral.

A stupendous event - enhanced by the organ which has recently been re-furbished by Harrison & Harrison of Durham. Quite a distance - but the result is lovely.

Very dramatic photos. I loved them! What kind of trees are those? (The really tall, 'flat' top looking ones)

Sorry for the delay, Rena, but Christmas celebrations kind of got in the way.
The flat topped trees are Corsican pine, according to the blurb in the tourist books.

No worries! Hoping you had an excellent time!!!

Thank you! That's very interesting! I'll be looking them up shortly. Thanks again.

Well on the subject of trees! this is my little beaut' that pic was taken about 2 years ago so it has filled out a bit more now and the branches sweep to the floor, it is around 12ft tall.
I used to work at a garden centre/nursery and I bought this for a quid it was about 4 inches tall at the time   [/img]

Wow - what a beauty. Thanks for sharing.
It stands a tad too tall to bring indoors at the end of Every December though.
Fair enough - or is it fir enough?

We have seen this done with native trees here watched it from start to finish ll.

We love trees and have planted lots now want to plant native trees under the fast growing ones.

We planted a Norfork Pine at our old place and the 80year old neighbour was worried it would make a nuclear winter for him so offered us $20 to get rid of it (this was 30years ago). As he never gave anything to anyone we made a deal we would if he gave it to charity of our choice which he did   It was only 3" tall at time.So we moved it to  farmland we had  Bet it hurt him

Here is an "atmospheric" shot of my favorite trees.
Biscuit and I have just returned home after taking lots of shots of them.
I selected seven, merged them and created this panorama :-

The original is quite a big picture but here, it has been reduced by Picasa.
