Crows again.

I planted out a load of pumpkin plants yesterday only to fing the bluddy jackdaws and crows pulling them up. I've set my Larsen trap tonight so hopefully I'll have some satisfaction in the morning.

All the best with the trap   birds

Tree and sky rats are my main problem around here, best of luck.

About this time last year I had a big jackdaw problem. They were stealing a lot of chicken feed and being a general nuisance. I caught several over a few days with the trap and hung some dead ones about the place which stopped them coming near. Hopefully the same tactic will work again.

Best of luck with it, let us know how you get on.

Nothing in the trap this morning. No sign of any flying rats either though.

They;ve not been around for a few weeks but in the last few days they've returned and I've caught three this morning.

I've started to pop off a few Jackdaws with the air rifle but we have hundreds of them and its not making a lot of difference.

There's a flock hundreds strong roosting in some trees just across a field from us. Given a chance they take the pigs feed from under their noses and steal the chicken feed. Hanging a few dead ones about the place seems to keep them a bit of a distance away. They're vicious blighters when you take them out of the trap too.

Caught another two this evening. I'm using the larsen trap purely as a trap without using a live bird as a lure. Seems to be working just as well.

I had hung a few dead jackdaws on the fence here and there to keep them away but yesterday I had to get rid of them due to the smell. Within a few hours the buggers were back harassing the chickens. Dead uns definitely work as a deterrent if you can stand the smell.
