Credit report...

I have just signed up to see mine for free for a month, mainly because I got turned down for a new kitchen on credit so I wanted to see if there was any problems.
its quite interesting really, it tells me how many accounts I have, what I own on them all and how good my repayments are.
Having looked at it im baffled as to why I have been rejected, I have a perfect repayment record, Im only using 3% of my available credit and I owe in total, not including my morgage, less than 1 months wages and that includes my overdrafts on the day before I get paid.
All I can think of is they made the serch with a H in my name when there isnt one but I will wait for them to contact me to discuss it with them.
but all that aside the credit report is interesting, it shows any credit serches done in the last 6 months, who you are financially linked to, electorial roll stuff and more.
Does anyone else have access to there report and do they think its worth the 9.99 a month they charge to see it after the 30 day trial is up.
Im going to make a note of the balances and try and get rid of a few more in the next couple of weeks.

Depending on who you are using it is also worth trying the other one
i.e. equifax or experian
I found they were both quite different with one saying my credit report was the worst thing since hitler and the other saying I should be given millions of pounds of credit cos I'm the most reliable man in NATO.
I use experian and its 6.99 a month rather than a tenner
Only 3 but it makes a small difference as it covers my fishing magazine costs for a month.
Have a look at moneysavingexpert as the man can give some great discounts/ideas.

Why would you need it every month?

Ages ago Pete tried to get credit on something but was turned down, odd he thought, seeing as he had never had credit so could hardly be looked upon as a bad payer and all that! Thus, there was the problem....he got a credit report and there was naff all on it, so he got a credit card with his bank just to get it going! Weird eh?

ive heard that as well, if you hav'nt got anything on credit your no good to them

its more that they monitor what happens to your credit and everytime someone does a credit application serch they tell you, that way if scumbag down the road has got hold of your details and is applying for credit cards and loans they tell you and you can do something about it.
tilly

we have 2 joint credit cards one with me as 1st named person and 1 with OH as 1st named person that way we both have current credit ratings

Hmmmmmm... looks like my son needs to sign up to that pronto.

All the stuff he sent to the solicitor re his house purchase - copies of passport, bank statements etc. never got there.
Speaking to a friend last night she said it's the 2nd case she'd been told about in 2 days in the B'ham area. Sounds like someone in the post office has a nice little number going - it's an unreported crime isn't it? Just missing post.
When I can get hold of my son I'm going to tell him to tell the police anyway, they must surely have someone who deals with identity fraud.
