Some of the most beautiful cakes you could ever wish to see --eat..

Never once do I remember him using a recipe....

His big hands used to just  well..! delve into each container..take out a handfull..into the mixing bowl...brandy / port...just poured it ..no ..measures.. how?

When we were ill my late Nan used to make us "chopped eggs" in a bowl.  This was simply soft boiled and shelled eggs which were then chopped in a bowl and mixed with a little butter and some salt and white pepper.  If you didn't have a sore throat you had a slice of buttered toast which had been cut into soldiers to dunk into it.

Think I know what I fancy for breakfast in the morning now

I remember those Mrs WW

I can remember when everyone thought every one else was basically decent and out to help, now it seems every one thinks everyone else has an ulterior motive and out to screw you.

Mrs WW, we used to call that 'eggy peg'. A soft boiled egg mashed with a knob of 'best butter' was one of the first foods my mum used to wean a baby, that or a banana mashed in a cup with a bit of sugar. I expect they would be frowned upon now
