I think you either knit or crochet, not both.  Im a knitter.  My aunt was a crocheter.  My mum was a knitter.

I guess I'm lucky then as my Mum taught me to knit, crochet and sew from a very early age     Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do much of any of them at the moment - will have to remedy that these cold and dark Winter nights

I can crochet, but I'm not going to make these because I am a pacifist    (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

But I promise, on my honor that I will not stomp all over Poland in them

I always thought that. I'm a knitter, but when DD left for Uni and I needed a distraction (not to mention a project to replace The Blanket), I taught myself to crochet.  I'm working on a throw for a tatty old chair in the siting room.  I can't read a pattern though, I have to look on youtube to work out how to do anything - so these slippers are a bit beyond me!

What a brilliant pattern

Unfortunately I suffer from SSS (Second Sock/Slipper Syndrome) where I can't bear to start the 2nd sock/slipper - that's why I knit socks 2 at a time on magic loop needles

Brilliant pattern. Unfortunately I cant crochet!!! nearest I got to slippers is knitting socks, then they turned out to be too big so Jack got then.

 It was self patterning wool!!

Self patterning wool? How does that work?

You knit from the pre-dyed ball of wool and the stripes appear - all from one ball of wool.

I'm a knitter but I can do a tiny bit of crochet - I would like to teach myself how to do more but I'm always knitting so never get chance!

My mum was a big knitter she used to be able to knit while watching telly or the best one was when she sat in the chair laid back knitting with her eyes shut
She taught me to knit using four nails and a wooden cotton bobin
