Hello Pat,

I found this, and thought that it just might help you on your quest to build a Camera Obscura.

Thanks Gareth for info.   You can see I don't get near a computer very often to pick up any messages but wish you a belated Happy New Year.

Hi Pat,

If you are going to build a Camera Obscura, please take and post photos.

I for one would be fasinated by it, along with many fellow OTGer's.

I get down to West Wilts often, travelling east to west along the A303 and it would be my pleasure to visit you and the Camera. Possibly giving you a hand to build it if you would welcome some help.

When constructing military Observation Posts for covert surveillance, we used to make a small hole in a grey blanket which was suspended vertically inside a room, and mount the cameras behind the hole, so passers by wouldn't see the blanket, we could remain behind it concealed, and photographs could be taken from behind invisibly.

camera obscura

Hi Gareth,   Was sailing under false colours - was really trying to find info for daughter who literally lives in a field without any services.   She was hoping to construct the c.o. inside a tipi as a temporary thing for Somerset Art Week in September.  She lives near Milverton and am sure she'd be happy for any help - perhaps she could make it a Wwoof project!?    I'm leaving the country life behind for a few days and heading up to Glasgpw for the Celtic Connections Music Festival so may not be in touch for a few days.   Hope to hear from you again.  Enjoy the lengthening days.   Cheers.   Pat

Hi Pat,

Well, working without a budget, and resources, and encouraging re using, recycling, and adaptation will only make it all the more fun.

The offer stands.

P.S. Pat . please check your personal messages (at the top of the page).

Thans very much for that link Gareth, what a fascinating site. I never knew that all those cameras in UK existed, I knew about the Bristol one as my wife went to it (I was too lazy to walk up the hill so went to pub instead). I must pay a visit to either the Brighton one or the other at Greenwich, both places which are easy to get to for me.
