Butterfly ritual

In today's sunshine I decided to walk Biscuit along a shady path under the leafy trees.
There were hundreds of midges, flies and the like darting through the dappled light - impossible to photograph.
I then spotted three butterflies wheeling and circling in the dappled light and I thought I'd try capturing them with my camera.

Here is the sequence ..............

you can just espy the odd midge as dots

and it seems as if they had lost interest ... but one of them flew down and rested on a plant ......

Speckled Woods. We have some of them in our garden but I don't think that we have as many this year.
