Busy times ahead.

I have put my name Down for one of these, and in about 3 weeks time, I get to pick my new GWP puppy.

Carnach

At that age they look like a litter of Springers!
kaz

Awww.   I had to google GWP images to see what they are likely to look like when they are grown - I was surprised by the diversity of colours

Agreed......but they change quite quickly to a flicked/mottled coat.

Sorry Kaz, GWP is as you now know German Wirehaired Pointer.

I've always had Brown flicked, but I saw a Black flicked at the Midland game fair and was sold.

He will be arriving here at my place begining of March.

He will be used to track injured deer. I have used the GWP and labrador I have at the moment fairly sucessfully to do this.

When we put the clocks back or forward it always upsets the daily routine of deer and road accidents increase by about 80%. After about 14 days the deer seem to have worked out what has happened.
bodger

You've got quite a few to choose from, which one,  if any has taken your eye?
sandrar

Love the wirehaired ...it's the eyebrows. Mine was a shorthaired.

Broken coats do it for me everytime, weather it be GWP's or lurchers.

When my mates GWP had pups and  i seen them the first day, i thought OPPS a Spinger had got to her lol.

I said are you sure she went to the pointer dog and not a spaniel lol
Border

Yes mate.......... at birth there coats fool alot of people.

GWP x springer   not to sure about that.

I will post pics as they change colour and coat.

I'm going to have a dog puppy, have asked if I can have the largest of the 3 Black dog puppies. not to worried about markings as I won't be showing it.

He will have to take down injured deer, so the runt of the litter will not do.

I bred a litter myself , mine were liver ticked and solid liver.  Got lots of pics here somewhere , cant remember my photobucket password etc lol

I WILL have another GWP sometime
Zepherine

Awwww!! So gorgeous.

GSHP here but she is solid black - I love the Wirehaired too!
Border

4 days old and you can already see the Flicks are more visible.

barraboy

exciting times, i was surprised how the pups changed from a stark b/w to a more traditional GWP in a few weeks having seen photos of a litter somewhere, FB probably. they are impressive dogs.

I knew what GWP meant, I was just surprised to see the black and white pups
Border

Dogs with alot of German lines in them, throw Black flicked puppies

In this litter 6 out of 8 were Black, 3 Black dogs 3 Black bitches and 2 Brown bitches.
Border

I was driven Down to see my new GWP puppy yesterday.

The puppies are  now 3 weeks 2 days, have eyes and are moving about.

3 1/2 weeks and he will be here with us, can't wait.

Digindeep

He looks content enough in your arms.....
Border

Meet IKE, picked him out this morning, at 7 weeks old.

He will be having his vac, health check and chip next week then I pick him up next weekend.

You can see in this image the white coat he had at birth has now changed to a mottled grey/black.

kaz

He looks as though he is working already
Border

Kaz.

He is very alert, and everything gets checked.

The following images are taken from the kennel site, as you can see all of them have had fur and  feather in their mouths.

I hope to train him as a schwiess dog.

I think this is a great pic, just a shame the 8th puppy is not n the pic.

Digindeep

Carnach

Just lovely!
sod

Beautiful, love the one of two dogs
Border

Well......... I have now had Ike about 3 months........so far he has been willing and quick to learn, and a joy to work with.

Occasionally he throws a puppy fit and turns deaf ear when working off the lead....put back on the lead normally sorts that out, as he would rather work off the lead.

A few pics of him taken over the last month.

The next two pics are taken after one and other, I saw him take point and then he advanced slowly, to put up a roe deer.

confused

I can see your going to have a good yin , great to hear the update .
