business cards

We have decided to have some business cards printed - we usually just print them off on the computer ourselves in the form of leaflets etc but this time decided on proper cards as we had heard you can get them on line for around 4.  So, simon went on line and sure enough 3.99 for 500 was the price but he then started fiddling around with a photograph as the back drop, printed both sides, colour etc etc and the end price was 60 plus delivery.  nope we thought, perhaps not, should have stuck to the two colour basic.  anyway, never got round to it and just came off the site meaning to go back eventually and re-do for the cheaper option.  two weeks ago we got an email offering us the cards for 39.00 plus delivery - didin't bother getting back to them..Yesterday we got an email - 3.99 for our bespoke 500 cards plus 6 delivery. Result.  ordered and awaited.  Apparently, everything does come to he who waits

That wouldn't have been Vistaprint, by any chance? I got mine doen form them, but the amount of spam I received as a result was unbelieveable

Still, the price was good

I had standard business cards and magnetic business cards from vista print. Price was good, and print quality was good. But posters over on the cycle chat forums are now saying that vista prints quality has dropped over the last few weeks; almost to the point of unreadable.

ours arrived - took 14 days though but at the final price of 3.99 for 500 couldn't really complain.  print is excellent and the colour photo of Kylie in the reeds excellent.

Let's see it then

Trust you Jockette.

I bought the standard business card size..... I thought they would be suitable for me to give out to the people that I deal with: customers to put on their fridges etc, suppliers and contractors to put on filing cabinets and tool boxes, etc. ..... .... and they seem to work because a couple of suppliers have them up on the file cabinets which I see every time I pop around to them. Another one is prominently placed on the free customer use coffee machine at the local toolstation depot, and this one has generated a lot of one off pipe bending and mobility hand rails work for me.

I think that Vista print also offer Postcard size magnetic cards ..... but if I remember correctly these were a bit pricey..

At the end of the day you gets wot ya pay for.
After nearly 40yrs. a printer I think I can talk through experience. On todays printing machines, 500/1000 cards are through in the blink of an eye literally. Companies like Vista will put your card up on a sheet with perhaps another 49 customers cards and just wack them off in one. You tell them the content, they design to a template already on there computer make up and bingo, there's your card.
You could probally do just as well at home on a P.C. for the price of a very cheap bit of software, a middle of the road printer and a bit of trial and error.
Want something a bit better or special? Look around for the little back street printer who still has a bit of pride in what he produces.
Vista can afford to have the odd job sent back. They turn over probally hundreds of thousands of at best mediocre printed items. The odd couple of complaints here and there don't hurt in the big sceme of things.

But the magnetic cards are a good idea.....
