menage grader

I also agree, I have almost finished a menage grader out of scrap.  All I bought was two wheels a winding handle and a few nuts and bolts cost 70  price in shop 600.
Result lol.

Ground too much off

It looks like my measurements were not accurate and more guess.  I burnt too much of the old steel away so it looks like i need to weld about 15mm back on so just waiting for a lump of copper to weld upto it.

Oh well all things dont always go to plan

Building up a weld edge

As I cut the bucket back too far I thought I would weld up the edge today.
For those of you who dont know how to do this, place a brass or copper block below where you are welding up the edge.

Then welded up
The weld wont stick to the brass or copper.

Then all ground up

My welding could be better however I am learning to weld again after a serious broken arm and several operations.:-)

update

I may get a couple of plates for the bottom of the brackets as a belt and braces approach as when I push down on the bucket the pins take all the load.

My next job is to put the head back on the quad bike and finish the menage grader.  THEN I can treat the menage to a good grooming.

Whats your next jobs guys.

Head back on

Well the quad runs again.  I am going to treat the chassis to a rub and paint, service the brakes and oils, replace a track rod end and then I can start the post knocker

I'm waiting for the weather to get better I hate the wet cold muddy days

quad bike

Well the quad bike is back together minus a track rod end which had failed.  All Oiled up, brakes checked and cleaned.  Ready to start looking for scrap to make the post knocker

We had trouble with ou old quad and found out the carb bowl is now porus so fuel leaks through it

quick fix

well you have done the hard bit by finding the problem.  I took mine to a shop who said the engine was naff and beyond economic repair so i took the head off and the part was 20  god knows how much they charge per hour if a 1500 bike is beyond economic repair for a 20 part.

bugger

the head gasket on the quad is leaking oil right on top of the exhaust.  Rocker cover and tappets out again.   grrrr.

Its too flippin wet any way to do anything with it.  Even the telehandler is having fun in the mud.
sod

As you said funny how much it can cost to put a very small cheap part in. Sorry to hear about your leak   We are now just looking for a good carby that don't cost the earth
