Broodies?

I don't know?   We go away for four days and on our return just about everything with feathers has gone broody.
I'm going to stick some duck eggs under two of our Light Sussex hens this evening. Our first broodies of the season.

I've just stuck five biggish eggs under each of them. I'll check tonight when I lock up to see if they're sitting.

Have you hatched many chicks this year mate ?
bodger

Dave , this will be my first attempt of the year. The broodies are sitting OK .

Not like you John, your normally on your third by know
bodger

We have way too many chickens around the place for our needs, so I decided at the start of the season to take a year off.
The one thing that I do need this year are geese and I'm finding it tricky getting what I want in our area.

Good luck with the duck eggs Bodger.
This broody hatched 4 Khaki Campbells for me a few days ago.

What breed is she brewer? She looks like one of those hybrids that aren't supposed to go broody.

Your spot on    I think she might be a "Calder Ranger", very similar to a RIR x LS.
She is a very good layer but definitely went broody, she hardly left the nest !!
