Breagha - at last, hopefully!

After seeming to be coming into season early - and then changing her mind possibly due to the awful weather - Breagha now seems to be going for it.
Counting Friday as Day 1, fingers crossed for a mating next weekend.
Breagha (Int. FTCh Helmsway Hawk of Witchwillows x Druimmuir Dancing Queen - both health tested Springers) had her first litter last year with my younger stud Zane so I'm hoping that Glen will be the favoured one this year.

Edited to say this is not an ad just a comment on my dogs. At the moment the waiting list is full and the reserve list has a couple of names.

Good luck
Border

Nicola has produced some good dogs over the years.

Hope all Works out well.
barraboy

hope all goes well,

i was considering Hawk as a stud for my bitch but have opted for another Helmsway stud, planning a litter from her [Buccleuch Pepper x Woodstorm Avril] this summer
Carnach

Hope all goes well for you too barraboy - very nice breeding with your bitch!

I was well pleased with the litter by Hawk, two of the boys are Medic Alert Dogs, one working on detecting prostate cancer by scenting urine samples and the other lives with a family were the father has severe diabetes and the dog reacts to changes in his body chemistry to detect the onset of a hypo.

All the best

Got the first mating today but Breagha would not stand for Glen so Zane was the favoured boy.  I'll try Glen again as I really do want this mating and if he is successful I'll get the pups DNA tested for parentage before KC Reg.  25 minute tie......so fingers crossed.

Tried with Glen again today - another refusal - very sad as I really wanted this.  I won't stress Breagha, just accept it will not happen.  That's the way it goes.

Update on Breagha.
90% certain she is in pup but another week will tell us for sure!
We took a week's holiday in Orkney last week, mainly because we had two pups booked to go to Israel that would have had to stay with us until the end of August - rabies vaccx issues.  Then while we were away, the guy who booked the pups had to cancel because he has been called up into the military reserve due to the situation in Syria - he is gutted but as I never take deposits until I have a healthy litter, there is no problem and he's hoping to come back to me next year.

We managed to meet up with two potential owners on Orkney, both of them very happy to see Breagha and Peggy Sue who came with us.  So while the waiting list is changing quite a lot as we get nearer the time, it is good to have managed home checks on two folk.

If all goes well, pups will be by Buccleuch Zane of Creccamarsh (Halaze Hickory of Edgegrove x Annickview Breeze) out of Sgurr Carnach (Helmsway Hawk of Witchwillows x Drummuir Dancing Queen). Fingers crossed!

I shall look forward to updates.
Do you always try to homecheck prospective homes?
Carnach

I try to homecheck when possible but with distances involved it is often not possible - then we have long email conversations and take up references on each other - I always want a vet reference.  Furthest distance people have come to check up on me is from Switzerland! They were happy and bought a pup from Breagha's first litter.

Good luck with the pregnancy

Thanks for good wishes!

Back at the vet's today for Breagha's second canine herpes vaccination and her pre-whelping check up.  Fingers crossed everything is going fine so far, and the due date is May 2, plus or minus 3 days each way, so we are on the countdown.

After a long night on Tuesday when Breagha starting the panting stage and another long night last night, we now have nine little Springers snuggling up to mum.  Well done Breagha.  Pics soon but at the moment we are all recovering.
