bottles for juice & cider

Am looking at these - tamper proof lids, I note.  Is this going to be a problem in a pasteuriser?

You should have said when you visited. I'm buying the bottles by the pallet load and they work out at 27p. The tamper proof lids aren't a problem in the pasteurizer and they work out at pence each. We've just done 300 bottles of juice and I've popped indoors for a bite to eat.

A quick question to you both, when you put the full bottles in the pasteurizer, have you already screwed the tops on............I read not to srcew the tops on until they have been in the pasteurizer, which I have done up until now, but it would be much easier to srcew the tops on before the bottles came in the pasteurizer.

Bodger told me loosly in the pasteuriser, then remove, tighten and lay bottles on side to pasteurise inside the lid.

Thanks LLP

That is going to make everything so much easier.

Have a look at the following link, I brougt my 750 ml bottles from the German branch of this Company and thought their bottle prices and delivery rates were very reasonable.

Bottles on their way.   I hope Ive ordered enough.

What is the rough amount juice I could expect per kg of apples?  eg if I have 25kg of apples, what amount of juice would I be looking to bottle (so I can estimate the right no of bottles to sterilize in prep.....)

I have been getting roughly 1l. of juice per 4-5 kg of apples.

Don't know if this is a good rate or not.

They need to be hand tight before going in the pastueriser and then check the tightness when they come out. If the lids are loose in the pastueriser it is very difficult to lift the hot bottles out.
The cider bottles have the crown caps fully applied before they go in.
