Best Rapid Knockdown Wasp Killer ?

Having been rushed to hospital recently with anaphalactic (sp) shock from a wasp sting I am a bit touchy when wasps come by me, and I have read somewhere that a sting leaves a marker saying "dangerous beast - sting here" so when I get them in the house I give them a spray with my usual insecticide which informs me the active ingredient is Pyrethrins at 0.25 percent

Now it does kill wasps but also allows them plenty of time to apply numerous stings should they so wish

I looked at another which would cost me over 17 for a can and says the active ingredient is Contains d-Phenothrin 0.04% w/w - Quick killing action

But when I phoned their help line the girl was a bit vague about how quickly they might die and suggested a wasp trap if I wanted to kill them instantly

Anyone know a good product for "kill on contact" spray?

I don't fancy being stung again

Works every time, instantly!

BTW, I'm not being facetious (for once) I have a similar allergy, sprays don't work fast enough and definitely wind the b*ggers up

We use one of those bright yellow bug bats that zaps them instantly. Karen managed to break ours the other day      and we're on the look out for a replacement. If we get one, I'll let you know how much it was and if you like, see about posting one down to you. They're great fun

These Sue. We've had one for years. It was like a friend to me and now she's broken it.

Yes - they gave me an epi-pen but once you have used it you are supposed to phone 999, and really I would rather not get stung.]

I am sure they are coming round me more than usual.  I had one of those bat things, but I don't think I was that good an aim with it.  Perhaps I will get one of the old plastic fly swat ones.

Its just that I googled "rapid knock down wasp killer" and wondered just how rapid they were.  Obviously not rapid enough

We just had Rentokil out to our wasps, we think they were nesting in the cavity.
We had torrential rain all day Monday after which the wasps got more active and were posing a problem for the guys working in the loft.
The bloke who came said they had had a lot of calls after the rains early in the week.

Nippon ant powder is effective in sorting out wasps nests. You need to use it at night time when the wasps aren't active. ( You don't want to go and get stung  ) Powder it around the entrance so that the wasps take it into the nest on their feet. That's always assuming that you can find the entrance and actually get to it without breaking your neck of course.

We had a nest in to loft last year, I waited til evening then rammed some 15mm copper tube into it then emptied a full can of Raid into it through the tube.
No more wasps.
Very satisfying.

I'm sorry you have such a reaction~epi on hand is very good to have, and def getting to the Dr. Asap is recommended (here in the states).

I have some very dear family friends who put together a youtube video on the topic....I hope it doesn't offend (anyone) as they too are dealing with large volumes of these pests and getting stung. It is funny (well~I thought the presentation was funny anyway...) hope it gives a bit of lighheartedness reprieve to an otherwise very frightening experience.

  Love the second method!!

I know! And...I never had heard of the first method (let alone seen it in action) until Bodger mentioned it!

Not as much fun but we find nest and pour petrol in at night. We can get poison powder to put on bait they land in it and take it back to nest, kills all
