Barbies...

As much of a fan of meat that I am...over the past few weeks due to this rather inclement weather we are suffering at the moment

I'm fed up of 'BARBIES'...sorry for shouting...

So armed with the last words spoken to me today, "Well you think of something then"     ooooh!

I've been food shopping.... horror....and this is what I have come back with in my little basket...

Feta cheese, Brie, White Cheshire and crumbly strong Cheddar,
Mixed stuffed olives,
Fresh prawns, mussels and welks.
Lamb samosas and red pepper pakoras.
Box of seedless grapes.
and some cold meats...
Chorizo, Italian herb ham and Milano salami.
A reasonable size pork pie.

As a final filler, 2 x 2 packs of chocolate fresh cream muffins...buy one get one free   ......a little gem that could not be missed.

Add to this we have so much salad stuff at the moment, fresh lettuce from the garden.
Tubs of coleslaw ect....
New potatoes lifted this morning from the garden, fresh mint...

Should get at least tonight and maybe tomorrow evenings meals from that little lot....

Who can't shop?

All for the princely sum of     well a lot less than is normally spent on the Barbies...

to top it off, a crate of Staropramen...on offer ....Come on cooks allowed a tipple isn't he....? It gets so hot in the kitchen ...

Sounds like my ideal sort of meals - plate it all up nicely, put it on the table to help ourselves then when done, re-arrange/condense the plates where necessary, cling film and pop in the fridge - ready to be pulled out again for tomorrow

My thoughts exactly Debbie....who in this weather wants to stand in a kitchen or even over a barbie. Certainly not me...

Whats more ....is how cheap it all was....four of us...well a couple of quid per person per night....even adding in the sweetener... f/c muffins

A few bread rolls, hot and cold food, as you say plate it up another meal tomorrow night and no cooking....

I'll be the chef while this weather lasts....

Spotted a lovely piece of salmon at the fishmongers     but it ment cooking it......so I passed on that......

I don't mind Barbies..........it's Ken that's a PITA.

That list does look good mate ...........I could quiet easily make a good hole in that lot.

Hope the Missus enjoys it, after your slog a the supermarket.

Some of the best Cooks/chefs have a wee one, then some have a couple of stiff ones, like my old mate Keith.

Sounds great, last summer we cooked a big roast in the coal range and live on cold meat with things like that for same reason. We only have BBQ when people come round as they are a lot of work

Well! there were no complaints...everything put out was eaten, more than enough to do a similar type meal this evening.
The home grown new potatoes, simply boiled for a while in loads of chopped mint, served in butter, were the star of the table, but I would say that

well DD, have just come back from shopping and have followed your example - cold stuff and salad and new pots for the next few days in the Dawson household
