At long last we have duck eggs.

This time around our seventeen ducks have really taken their time coming into lay but at long last, they've decided to reward me for the kindness that I've shown them throughout the long wet winter by laying a few eggs.
Over the last month or so egg numbers have gradually increased up until the point this morning, when I picked up a magnificent thirteen eggs.  Of the seventeen ducks we have, three of them are drakes, so even I can work out that only one of the lazy beggars decided to have the night off. She should be ashamed of herself.
All I need now, are a few customers for the eggs and for good measure, our hens have also got their backsides into gear.

Our ducks are laying well now, we only have 4 but each is laying everyday.
The hens we hatched last year from the Cockerel you got for us Bodger have just come into lay and are laying beautiful light blue eggs. Shame the Marrans from Sue(Darkbrowneggs) are being really slow this year. Talking of Sue has anyone heard anything from her since the end of January?

I see Sue posting on FB from time to time.

Marans don't lay that many eggs but what you get tends to be well worth waiting for. I don't think that any of the really dark egg laying strains lay a lot of eggs but having said that, some of my Welsummers have been laying for well over a month now. How old are you Marans?

This will be their 3rd year for the French and 2nd for the coppers

The three year old in particular are nearly OAP's. Fewer but hopefully bigger eggs but they're winding down.

Yeh this will be the last season for them

My ducks still arent laying   unless they are laying eggs in the pond
bodger

Saphire 99% of ducks will lay their eggs before ten in the morning. I keep mine in until then each day to make sure that I'm the one who gets their eggs and not the crows.

Aah, maybe get the yard owner to leave them in a bit longer then. Luckily no crows can get in as it has mesh over the top. Thanks Bodger
