Arthur Ransome

Are there many Arthur Ransome fans out there amongst you?
The author of many childrens books including the Swallows and Amazons series, left a huge imprint on me as a child. If truth be known, I still pick up his works from time to time and reread them.
On this day in 1967, one of my childhood  heroes Arthur Ransome, English children's writer died.
Who remembers watching the film  Swallows and Amazons?

One of the first real books without pictures that I read.
Could still watch that film now.

I read all 12 of the Swallows and Amazon's series - Superb books that kindled my interest in sailing, knots etc.

I've just spent nearly 6 months searching for Swallows and Amazons and finally spotted a copy in a charity shop in perfect condition last month

Loved the book as a child. Katharine has agreed to line it up as our next bedtime read to her once Polidori (Dad) finishes Harry Potter 7.

Got a number of his the other books in the series saved in my amazon wish list for later in year!
