Anybody got

any fennel recipes/ideas?

I've grown a lot of this stuff this year and apart from stuffing it into fish,I haven't a scooby on what else to do with it.

Any Ideas?

Do you mean bulb fennel?

If so, it's rather nice braised in a little white wine and served as a vegetable side or it's very refreshing thinly sliced into a salad.

I'll save you a couple of bulbs mate. I've never tasted the bulb,so it'll be a surprise when I do get around to cooking it and whatever I do with it, but I do fancy the white sauce one and making the coleslaw with it.

I just hope it's not like the Jerusalem artichoke.....bdooly awful

And guess who'll have loads of them this year!

Heh heh! Me too Wish I'd planted those ones you gave me in a pot

Bulb fennel has a lovely aniseed flavour mate...................best way I've found is to leave the root end intact, take off the outer leaves, then slice the bulb through the root. It keeps its shape that way when cooked

The upside of having Jerusalem artichokes in my garden,is that they do act as a good privacy barrier for my neighbours conservatory.

The downside is having all the artichokes going to waste, I wonder If you can make jerusalem artichoke wine?   if not, there's always freecycle.

You can send 'em to me Tayside, I love them....

I'm with Mrs WW on the fennell, definately braise it in white wine, if you can let the wine reduce off at the end of cooking so the fennell takes just a touch of colour from the pan, even better.

You can cut the bulb into quarters and make little foil parcels, put ¼ bulb with some butter and a splash of white wine in each and pop on the BBQ.

Off topic- Mo-where is the  ¼  button on the keyboard?

Heehee! ¼ like that? I can do ½ too

Press the Alt button and whilst holding it down type in 0188 for ¼ and 0189 for ½

I can also do ¾

If you look at Character Map on your PC it'll tell you which keystrokes produce characters.

Thank you mate, very kind.  Must admit that the wife won't thank you though as I suffer quite spectacularly to their famed side effects
