A strange dinner party

So here I am at the kitchen table, waiting for people to start arriving at 7, g&t at my elbow. All the prep's done. So far so good.  Of 6 people coming tonight, we know 4 of them.  The two couples we invited each, at different times over the last month or so, asked if they could bring a guest who had invited themselves to stay this weekend.

Now, I don't mind that at all. In fact I am pleased that our friends are comfortable enough to ask.  However..  they are all Strictly fans. All of them.  Not knowing tonight would be the final, this party has been organised for months.  Our good friends are also comfortable enough to ask if they can all watch Strictly first..  So here we are, waiting for people we don't know, coming to watch our tele!

Anyone else been here and done this?

Sorry .......but if that had been my house and my party then the TV would not be switched on.

I would consider it bdooly rude if guests were invited to dinner, and then asked to see the TV.

If they want to see Strictly that much, they could set what ever to record it before leaving home.

They would not be watching it at my house.

Well it was a very enjoyable evening.  We had to go back to the tele for the "final final" which I wasn't expecting, but everybody had a good time, the two strangers liked each other very much (although one's American so I don't know how that's going to work), and there were a few headaches on Sunday morning.

A success then, but I would rather not have the tv on when all's said and done!
