A plaice rig?

Late August in our area of Wales is traditionally the time for fishing for plaice off the beach. What rigs do folks use in their area? In other words I'm after a few tips.

Mostly use an up and over wishbone rig off the beaches on the south coast for plaice.

The single snood that carries the wishbone is crimped in just above the lead and goes up and over an upside down bait clip and back down to clip into an impact shield.

That way you can fish a five foot long trace easily and use two hooks for extra scent but still have them clipped in for long distance casting.

Furdy.
This is the rather basic rig that I've been using. The pictures aren't brilliant but I think you'll be able to see how simple it is.

As long as the hook length puts the hook below the weight, then i don't get too many tangles with this rig.
Sometimes, instead of tying the hook length onto a loop in the main line, I'll use a three way swivel.
I know its not the best and I'd appreciate any tips that would lead to a better rig for beach fishing for plaice.

Don't know much about sea-fishing, to tell the truth. I've heard tell that a lot of guys add coloured beads to their plaice rigs as attractors though?

Pretty sure I still have a couple of those plastic paternoster booms lying around too........I bought them a couple of years ago when I thought I might take up sea-fishing. You know the ones that slide over the mainline & are supposed to keep your hooklink from tangling? Never used them though, so don't know if they're any good or not

The fearless leader will be back off her holiday with the kids tomorrow and she is the camera operator....

I'll see what I can do to get some pics up for you over the latter part of the weekend

I've been left on my own this week......

Will be some manic houseworking going on tomorrow....

Been there, done that but not very well.

The secret is to create chaos of such magnitude elsewhere that she completely fails to realise you've not done the hoovering

Don't let Jo and the other ladies into too many man secrets mate.

I just used a simple running rig, long shank hook and a few beads. Firm believer in simple is best. Had some good results with peeler on a hair.
