A mole in the Polytunnel.

Again
This afternoon I took my mate Pugh to the poly to show off my rows of onion setts and a mole had made a nice hill in the middle of them. I've set a mole trap for the blighter.
bodger

No extra hills in the poly this morning but no mole in the trap either.
bodger

There was a new mole hill in the poly this morning, so this afternoon I set another four traps in and around it. Within an hour, the b*****d had been in and out, chucked up another hill and escaped unscathed. I'm an utter and absolute failure.
PS. The b*****d has been playing beach volley ball with my onion setts. Its small recompense but from the quality of what the little b*****d has thrown up, I've obviously got some very good soil.

Excellent!

We're away for five days now. I've left five mole traps set in and around the poly and if Mr Mole doesn't oblige and stick his head in the noose, I'm going to be coming back to absolute mayhem.

Hows your pet mole doing Bodger, did he pack his suitcase for 5 days..
bodger

No. The bugger is alive and well.
Gareth

Bodger, I thought your were a trained and experience pest control operative.
Border

............but this one was trained in the tunnels of nam, and generally renegade fighters have the upper hand.

Slipster

I can always come and trap for you
Me zero   mole man 23 on my field
bodger

This one is a tricky little sod. Because the poly has all been dug over, he's not making proper tunnels in there and he certainly isn't visiting everyday. I'm going to have to find some decent runs outside in the fields before he really gets his head down and starts digging.
What Gareth says is true. I did used to make a substantial part of my living controoling moles but I do have several excuses for my utter and abject failure. Being useless is of course one of them.
milkermel

sorry Im not laughing either!

If its any consolation as the apprentise to the professional moletrapper we still have moles in the field.

Must get round to putting the traps down.  If its any consolation though imagine poly would be a little more difficult as the soil is probably very fine,  on a good note though there were obviously a lot of worms there so good soil
bodger

When I've been watering some of my peppers, the water disappears immediately and thats because there's a mole run directly beneath them.
One side of the poly is covered with black membrane to keep the weeds down, with holes cut into it for the plants. The moles think that its agreat set up.
