....actually Going to the Great Yorkshire Show once again

Well it's that time of year, I've just emptied the sofa of the loose fluff (you think we leave loose change in our sofa?) and stumped up for the renewal of our Yorkshire Agricultural Society membership. Which means our access for the 3 days of the GYS is once again on the cards.

And although I was slightly sad to hear of its demise, with the Royal Agricultural Show no longer messing around with dates in a desperate attempt to improve itself, the GYS is back to it's old week in the UK's show schedules and therefore on my birthday week (WOOO!!!!!)

So come on, no excuses, there are TONS of OTG'ers in Yorkshire now to grudgingly get their wallets out and come visit even if you only plan to do one of the 3 days, rather than the killer 3 day stamina event we like to attempt instead.

OTG meet up anyone? Pwwweeeeeasssseeeee!

Edited to say: GYS is 12th - 14th July - Advance tickets still available from Morrisons or on the main web site (with a £1 booking fee I believe).

Many many moons ago my mum used to let me skive a day off school to go to the Yorkshire Show with our farming neighbours I spent most of my time with, until I went to Mexborough Grammar who had an annual trip there every year. Sadly I don't suppose there is a school in the country that has an annual trip to an agricultural show anymore.

lots of schools still take the children to the agricultural shows lincoln had 100's of children all in uniform as did peterborough and i am pretty certain yorkshire has many schools still attend.

That's good news Chickenfeed!
Mo

We already have our tickets.

Our school also did an annual trip there - I think Thursday is schools day?- when we went with school you had to get as many freebies and brochures as you could.

It was on a school trip that I discovered I am allergic to Sheep :(

Mo, Chickenfeed - think a meetup at the theakston or Black Sheep bar tent is in order (particularly if the bar tent is doing those nice Pimms again this year *HIC*)

Anyone else fancy joining in?

And yes Chickenfeed is right plenty of schools still go most on thursdays but not all - although most not in uniform anymore due to the state of the weather and therefore the state of the uniforms going home - it's usually only the primary schools that march them out in their Blazers and check dresses etc. and have to explain to parents why they are cold/wet/covered in muck etc. (or worse I hear the kids being told not to behave like children to stay clean and tidy to maintain school image (yes I really did overhear the teachers for that one))

And yes I skived off high school/college for my birthday treat several times once we were living in Yorkshire again after we let Scotland.

We always take the kids on Thursday. My stepdaughter's school actually consider it a valid absence, my younger nieces primary school are ok, I am trying the bolshy tactic with my elder niece's high school this year, rather than another dentists excuse (they may start wondering why she always has a dentist appointment in the same week every year)

Do you hire one of the little rooms in the section you are showing in.
Mo

What are you showing chicken feed?

Not sure which day we shall be visiting, yet. Tues or Wed though.
Eschra

Not sure if you have email/internet via a smartphone to see this Chickenfeed but for anyone seeing this like Mo we'll be there all 3 days Tuesday - Thursday.

If anyone fancies a meet up drop me a PM - I do have internet and email on my phone and I can reply to peeps with my phone number etc.
