Whats all this about you may ask ?

Its all about books. I'm sure that we all have books that we don't want anymore but that are just too good to simply throw out.

My idea, is that members simply list any books that they have which they would be prepared to swop or simply give away to fellow members. I'm thinking of books such as gardening or craft books, but I suppose just about any books titles would do.

People recieving books would just have to pay postage but swoppsies could be on a tit for tat basis.

I'll place my list of books to go on here in the next few days in the hope that others will do the same.

Sounds like a brilliant idea.  My OH would say I've got plenty of cookery books I could/should get rid of but I disagree with him totally

However, would be interested in seeing what spare books others have got - possibly in exchange for some homemade marmalade from Chez WoofWoof

The only problem that I can forsee, is that books weigh heavy for postage, so the Encyclopeadia Britanica is out of the question.

Here's the start of my list. Please make a list of your own on this thread and then hopefully, we'll be able to get this off the ground. Just think of the book shelf space that you'll be able to make.

1) Spilling the Beans. Clarrissa Dickson Wright. GONE

2) All about Gazehounds. Joanna Russell.

3) Collins Pocket Guide to Nests and Eggs.

4) A Seasonal Guide to The Kitchen Garden. by Ann Bonar

5) The Book of Dogs. by Sonia Lampson.

These are in no way junk books but merely ones I no longer need.

What a fab idea.    I've got boxes of books still packed from when we moved here over a year ago   , so will have a rummage and put some up for offer.

Bodger - would love the Clarissa Dickson Wright one please - How much for P&P?

I'll get it weighed tomorrow, in the mean while, I'll mark it down for you.

Could you list some of your titles down that would suit the OTG sections and in this way, we can get things rolling ?

thanks Bodger.

Will start excavating tomorrow and see what we've got.

Apart from smallholding/craft/gardening type books - what about paperback novels?

Go with the first ones really. Paperback novels tend to be ten a penny. At least the ones that Kaz reads tend to be. What I mean to say, is that it depends on the novels.

If this is to work, people must also go back on their old posts and delete any books that have gone.

Hi Blinkers.
I've just nipped to the post office and had the book weighed. Its going to cost 2.24p to post.
If you want the book, simply PM me the address that you want it sending to and use the Pay Pal button ( Donate ) at the bottom of the page. I'm going to donate the postage to the forum charity but everyone doesn't have to do that.

Come on folks. My list of 'books to go' is starting to look very lonely on its own. Just think of the space that you could be making. Sometimes its like trying to get blood out of a sausage on here.
