Phew ! What a last 36 hours we've just had and the bad weather hasn't finished with us yet.
The forecasters told us that we'd have at least three inches of rain and I wouldn't argue with them. The rain has been torrential and non stop.
I currently have two coats drying off in the airing cupboard and one of my first jobs when the rain eventually stops, is to clean out four pretty wet and miserable chicken sheds.
Roll on the summer eh ?
On a brighter note, I'm fairly sure that I've had my first bird of the season go broody. Where was she when I really needed her ?
I'm not at all sure what to do with her. I've already hatched all the chickens that I could possibly need. I've given up on the ducks until next year and so, I'm thinking that I might try to sneak a few turkey eggs in past my wife.
My first batch of Guinea Fowl eggs are also due to hatch tomorrow but as yet, there aren't any imminent signs in the incubator.
That's my news update, how are things going with you folks ?

Was a lovely weekend but chucking it down now and getting very windy.

As far as the chickens, there everywhere!
Every broken down wooden box has a broody in it, ha.
And I have growers all over.

Here are my Sasso 2nd generation at almost 9 weeks

I have a few which are crossed with the medium growth Sasso which the cockerels were to big to keep for breeding because of bad movement.
This guy is the same.

The Sasso x Marans cockerels showing great shape

And the Pullets, not as big but will be kept as layers / breeders

Will be having a weigh in very soon but by the feels of them, they will do me.

Pity we are not nearer John, I've got about 8 or 9 broodys again.
I had got them all sorted and laying about 2 weeks ago.
The weather has been a pig last two days, persistent rain and strong winds, just been and locked birds up and down in the orchard found one of my cider apple trees flat on the ground.
