Well, in the beck actually.

It runs alongside our property on Common Land and goes from raging torrent to dwindling stream, depending on the weather. In summer it is perfect for two young labs to let off steam without getting too hot and bothered.

Refreshing

It looks like those two have a "log of contention" rather than a "bone of contention".

Hah!

It's a popular log so we made them leave it behind. There are some other labs who play with it and I have seen one of the sheepdogs try to get it onto the quad bike when the sheep farmer was visiting his lambs.

I would imagine that you have some difficulty keeping them out of the water.

They can't get to it unless we take them round.
There's a steep drop over our wall down to it, so whilst Molly continually gives me palpitations by dancing on top of the dry stone wall, they're not so daft as t think they can jump over it - falling over it doesn't appear to have occurred to Molly. Amber keeps two feet firmly on the ground.

Bizarrely, out water supply used to arrive in a pipe submerged in the beck. It had been leaking for some time before we bought the property. Lots of discussions about who had to pay for it and now we have a new water supply that didn't cost us a penny
