An interesting couple of holiday makers called in on us yesterday to buy some of our free range eggs. We got chatting and husband and wife told us that they were visiting the area from Sheffield. They seemed interested in what we are doing here and we were likewise interested in what they were doing.
He explained that one of his interests was in growing different chillies and in making sauces with them. The guy told me that he currently has 53 different chillies and that these included 4 of the hottest varieties in the world.

At the moment he works for Tata steel and his job is very much at risk of disappearing. He's been giving some serious thought as to how he might be able to turn his hobby into some kind of living. It's going to be hard but I wish him luck, it's not an envious situation that he finds himself in. I sent him away with an OTG card and I'm hoping that the couple might join us here on the forum.

Ey up, Bodger.
Dus tha kno, that's were am from an'all.
I spent all my life in Sheffield up to getting married - 23 years in total.
We're a mixed bunch of folks - gritty, determined, stern, friendly and have a reputation for being feisty and tight fisted too.
It'll be interesting to see if they join us on OtG.

I hope things work out well for them

Chillies have a huge following…..named dried varieties, smoked one, pre ground, etc., lot of folks quietly paying good money for something tastier than generic hot stuff.
I like flavour over heat these days, and the smoked varieties are lovely.

Be interesting to see the folks on here too
