When Frank Farr was alive he was an East Devon legend.
This video of him when 90 years of age (with  sub titles) is still on Youtube:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDWu9j3_gjo

He died in August 2011 and I consider myself lucky - he used to go to the Kings Arms in Otterton for a Friday drink.
I met him there many Fridays and enjoyed his talking.

I afraid that these old boys, are taking a life times knowledge of country ways to their grave, as most of todays youth, only want to know if it has two joy sticks.

Nice little clip

Not joking quote from a study

"Women now lose about 11 years of life expectancy if they smoke," McAfee says. "Men lose about 12 years."

Maybe you ought to take it up mate, I'll give you short odds the only thing you'll be doing at 90 is pushing up daisies.

By the way life expectancy in the UK is 79 years.

The real point is that I was commenting on the guy in the video. He lived well beyond average age despite the evidence that smoking shortens life.
I gave up 40 years ago.

Frank died in August 2011 and was 91 years old.

This is an article in the local Herold about him:-

A great generous guy.
When I was 13 I saw two employees of the rabbit clearance society working the hedgerow in the hill opposite our farm when I came home from school. In a flash I was changed and off to see them.I was gutted when they said they were just finishing for the day but pricked up my spirits when they told me they would be back tomorrow at 8.30. needless to say I mitched school and spent the day with them thinking what a brilliant enjoyable job they had being paid for fun. Idwal was the image of frank in that picture and taught me a lot.
