Who can tell me about camcorders? Things like which model to get? I'd like to know things like how to make short videos? And how to put them on You Tube so that so that they can appear here on OTG?

As usual, my qualifications are that I know absolutely nothing on the subject but what I do know, is that I don't want to inflict our members with the usual clips you see of shaky shots saturated with wind noise, so please see if you can help this budding film maker out with a prod in the right direction.
We all see lots of interesting things going on and I'm hoping that a short clip of video might be of more interest to members than acres of the written word. My latest cunning plan was sparked only last nigh by Karen watching the final of 'I'm a Nobody get me out of Here' and me having to watch an amateur DVD of a rat hunting session.
I really enjoyed it and that's what set me thinking. Not about rats necessarily but maybe a few clips on chickens and cider making might go down well and yes, before anyone says anything, I know that I must have too much time on my hands.

Unless you really need approaching professional quality videos, Camcorders have more less been superseded by Digital cameras with video recording facilities, which are now being replaced by smart phones.

However................. I bdooly hate mobile and I particularly hate smart phones, and would advise buying a decent mid range compact digital camera.

I am a bit peculiar in that I like digital cameras that are powered by AA batteries rather than some make and model only specific battery with unique charger, or built in and charge in the camera battery.

This was highlighted when we were recently at the Hampi Hindu temple complex in India. My compact Lumix camera went flat, so I walked over to the gift shop and bought a pack of AA batteries and was up and running again in less than 15 minutes, while Lois' camera went flat and she had to wait until we returned to the hotel that night to recharge it........ and then the hotel suffered several power cuts resulting in a less than half charged camera the following morning.
